Season’s Greetings from ULD CARE

Another year has flown by, and it’s very encouraging to see that air cargo is making a spectacular return profitability. We now read of new tonnage records, capacity shortages and rate increases, subjects that have been sadly missing for the past few years! Long may this turn of events last.

2017 has been a successful year for ULD CARE: we have seen the launch of our very own e-commerce page on the web site, and we have ongoing sales of  ULD Explained. For anyone wishing to give a last minute Christmas present this could be an ideal choice! A particular highlight was the sale of 1000 copies to WFS. Not only is this gratifying for ULD CARE but it is also an encouraging sign of the interest in ULD within the industry.

We have a lot of ambitions for 2018, and our January newsletter will be bringing you more details. In the meantime, it only remains to announce that the 2018 annual conference will be located in Guangzhou, between October 08^th and 15^th (the reason for the dates not being 100% confirmed yet is that we don’t want to clash with an IATA cargo event in Bangkok, around that time and are waiting for them to fix their dates). More details will become available in the new year, but in the meantime, you may like to do some practise eating with chopsticks! For those not already familiar with Guangzhou, it is one of China’s largest cities, located on the Pearl river about 170 Km north of Hong Kong with a population of 14 million people and with excellent connections within China, to Hong Kong and to the world via a very large airport (it’s home to the Fedex Asia Pacific hub) and high speed trains. Guangzhou is of course the head office of China Southern Airlines, which is the largest airline in Asia by fleet size and is also the worlds 6^th largest airline by number of passengers carried….given the spectacular growth in PRC air travel, both domestic and international, it seems appropriate for ULD CARE to be holding this, our 31^st annual conference, in China once again.
